Yet another Democrat was recently arrested for a Pay to Play scam.

For those who don’t know, a Pay to Play scam is a scenario in which money is exchanged for services or the privilege to participate in certain activities. The underlying principle of all forms of Pay to Play is that one must pay to “get in the game”.

The mayor of Fall River, Massachusettes, Jasiel Correia who is only 27 years old is accused of misusing his position to run this scam.

According to WCVB,

Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia was arrested early Friday morning at his home in the city.

Correia, 27, was charged in a superseding indictment with bribery; extortion conspiracy; extortion and aiding and abetting; wire fraud; and filing false tax returns.

He is accused of conspiring to extort hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes from marijuana companies.

In federal court Friday afternoon, Correia entered a plea of not guilty and was released on $250,000 bond. He will be required to pay $25,000 of that amount by the end of the day Tuesday.

“I’m not guilty of these charges,” he said outside of the courthouse. “I’ve done nothing but good for the great city of Fall River.”

The sad part about all of this is that this isn’t even the first time that he’s been in trouble. He was first elected at the age of 23 and started just 3 days after pleading not guilty to federal charges including bribery, extortion and wire fraud.

Three other persons Antonio Costa, 51, of Fall River; Hildegar Camara, 58, of Fall River; and David Hebert, 54, of Westport, were also arrested in connection with Correia’s scheme.

The guy is a crook determined on extorting people. He was also allegedly stealing money from investors for an app he helped develope called SnoOwl.
